The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines "innovation" as "the introduction of something new" or "a new idea, method, or device."  Innovation in business and the economy means being able to take that new idea and do something with it. This requires having people around you with the vision and skills to bring that idea to life.  Being innovative throughout the region requires a workforce that is prepared for the future -- no matter what that future may hold.

The key to a partnership like WIN is everyone working together so that no piece of the puzzle is missing.  Employers looking to upgrade technology need employees who can work with the new technology or be locally trained to proficiency.  An employer looking to relocate to the region needs to know that employees will have transferable skills, steeped in a quality education, so that their innovative ideas can flourish.

Economic Development works hand-in-hand with Workforce Development which must work closely with school systems, colleges and training providers to make sure that education is relevant.  If any of these organizations is not in sync with the others, then opportunities can be missed.  Working together opportunties are created for individuals, businesses and the region as a whole.
